Casey Legler (b. 1972, Fréjus, Var, France)
Casey Legler is an artist, restaurateur, model, and former Olympic swimmer. Born in France to expatriate American parents, Casey grew up in Provence, and went on to swim for France in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. They are a Phi Beta Kappa, graduated cum laude from Smith College in 2007.
Casey believes in the artist's responsibility to have a portion of their art practice critically engage the socio-political-economic landscape the artist finds herself in. 'They all get a piece in the end' is one resolution/culmination of one such critical engagement.
The first woman signed to Ford Models to exclusively model men’s clothes, Casey has been featured in Vouge, Le Monde, and Time. They currently divides their time between New York and Sydney, Australia with their wife, Siri May.
Their memoir Godspeed, recounting their girlhood and years as an Olympic athlete, was released in 2019.
Legler lives and works between between New York and Sydney, Australia.
