Cammisa Buerhaus (b. 1986, New Kingston, NY)
Cammisa Buerhaus is a visual artist, performer, and writer. She earned her BA from the New School in media studies, and later received an MFA from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College. Buerhaus moves fluidly between mediums, imbuing every work with a distinct quality of surrealism. Buerhaus has shown work at Super Mala in Lisbon, CHB in Berlin, and ΥΛΗ[matter]HYLE in Athens. She has held residencies at Akademie Schloss Solitude, AIR351, Ludlow 38, and Pioneer Works. In 2014, she collaborated and toured with Japanese saxophonist Tamio Shiraishi under the group name “Daikyo Furoshiki.” She has performed at Issue Project Room, Juliet, CHB–2, and MoMA PS1.
Buerhaus lives and works in Berlin.
