Aaron Young (b. 1972, San Francisco, US)
Aaron Young attended the San Francisco Art Institute, receiving his BFA in 2001 before completing his MFA at Yale University in 2004. He moved to New York upon graduation, and has been exhibiting regularly ever since. His work has been included in shows at the MoMA P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center in Queens, the 2006 Whitney Biennial in New York, and Bortolami Gallery in New York, among others. His recent solo and two-person exhibitions include OSMOS Address (2017), Marlborough (2018) and UTA Artist Space (2022).
His work can be found in the public collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Jumex in Mexico City, among others. Influenced by the dynamic and often dangerous early performance work of Chris Burden, Young creates conceptually-driven objects that are the result of spectacle and performance. Young’s sculptures and paintings employ everyday industrial materials to fabricate thought-provoking social commentary.
Young lives and works in Miami, Florida.
